Site Considerations

 Site Considerations

The site process is the management's responsibility, as stated by the Architect; they need to focus on what includes a landscape architect, an interior designer, and a civil engineer. The site has a significant impact on the interior's appearance, including the direction of the sun, wind, views, and the placement of outdoor rooms. The direction of the sun affects the interior because of the windows placed and how much natural light can enter the space, which can help people moving into the space not use too much electricity, which can help them save more money for other necessities.

The external views also play a part in window placement, and if an interior designer is brought in early on during the design process, they can have a say in where the windows are placed, which can help people gain more natural light in the place without having much glare.

The type of roof material that an architect chooses for the house can last for a long time. For example, a Thatch Roof can last 15 to 40 years. This type of roofing is used in the Netherlands, and it was traditionally used in the Netherlands.

Harm A. Weber Center

The Harm A. Weber Center, also known as HWAC, has a design that earned it the LEED Gold rating from the US Green Building Council. The Designer Professor C. Alan  Short, who was a British Architect and worked at Cambridge University, added features in the building, such as a hybrid natural ventilation design, and allowed natural light to enter the building and a Photovoltaic system.

The main construction material used is concrete for the walls and floors. The reason it was used was the thermal mass required for the natural ventilation system. For the exterior finish, they used a brick veneer for the lower level and a combination of EIFS and metal panels.

  1. Irma,
Good job on your Blog. I think you could of included more material such as foundations, enclosure systems, site considerations... You need to be spending about two hours a week creating your Blog entry. I liked the example of the thatched roof from the Netherlands. The evaluation of the Harm Weber Building needed to be more comprehensive. 35/50 points
